Bilingual Education Exception and ESL Waiver Resources

听Application Requirements

  • Local Education Agencies (LEAs), including school districts, districts of innovation, and open-enrollment charter schools that are unable to provide the appropriately certified听teachers to implement the bilingual education program must听request from the commissioner of education an exception for听the bilingual education program and approval to offer a temporary听alternative language听program as per 19 TAC 搂89.1207(a).
  • Local Education Agencies (LEAs), including school districts, districts of innovation, and open-enrollment charter schools that are unable to provide the appropriately certified teachers听to implement the ESL program听must request from the commissioner of education a waiver for听the听ESL program听and approval to offer a temporary听alternative language听program听as per 19 TAC 搂89.1207(b).
  • All听applications are due on or before听November 1, 2023.听
  • Completeboth parts of the application and submit to 澳门最快开奖直播 as听attachments in an听email to: BilingualExceptions_ESLWaivers@tea.texas.gov. (Notice the underscore after the word Exceptions in the email address.)
  • The district's Bilingual/ESL contact person may complete the exception/waiver application, but the application听includes听an assurance that the superintendent has reviewed and approved the completed application听prior to submission.
